Stanton-under-Bardon Parish Council

Vehicle Speed Indicator Device

The Parish Council has installed a Vehicle Speed Indicator Device to help improve road safety within the parish, with a particular focus on monitoring traffic along Main Street.

The device uses radar technology to detect the speed of approaching vehicles and displays the vehicle’s speed in real time, alongside a clear visual message reminding drivers to slow down if they are exceeding the speed limit. The sign operates automatically and does not record vehicle registration numbers or identify individual drivers. All speed data is collected anonymously and stored securely within the unit for later analysis.

By recording traffic speed data, the Parish Council can monitor vehicle speeds over time and gain a better understanding of traffic patterns within the parish. This information is invaluable in helping the Council assess road safety issues and target interventions where they are most needed.

Monthly speed reports will be published on this page, providing a summary of the data collected. These reports will help inform future discussions with the local authority, guide potential road safety improvements, and support the Parish Council’s ongoing efforts to ensure the streets remain safe for all residents and visitors.
